Free P&P plus…

By lisawato / November 15, 2015 / Comments Off on Free P&P plus…

How many sleeps left until Christmas? I don’t know about you, but as the days go by I am progressively feeling ever so slightly  more festive. Obviously no-one wishes to peek too soon, but lots of preparation to complete and lists to compile…

To assist you I am offering free P&P on everything in my shop from 15th November 2015 right through to 15th January 2016 so as to cover all areas of the festivities.

I also have some NEW blankets knitted for you to keep cosy in & cuddle up in for all those R&R moments inbetween all the festive hiatous.

I make my quilts& because I love colour, textures and fabric. I wish to stitch useful and beautiful products that people will enjoy and take solace from and that are made to last. I’m always looking to develop my collections, so wished to try out knitted blankets. What do you think?

That was the week…

By lisawato / October 13, 2015 / Comments Off on That was the week…

That was the week that GNCCF & Handmade in Kew were on, where Lou Gardiner embroidery and Gillies Jones glassware showing at these shows were also spotted on sale at Blackwell. I had the opportunity to visit the inspirational Blackwell, an arts&crafts house at the weekend as I was teaching a P&Q workshop. Whilst enjoying reading the Sundays, I spotted Annabel Perrin featured in The Sunday Times style Home (Annabel’s Hemlock print provides some added zing in my Brights Harris Tweed quilt) And excitedly my NEW knitted blankets were delivered on Sunday evening.

This is the week to catch my exhibition at Arison Gallery M21 before it closes and I’m off to Old Spitalfields Market for the Designers Makers Market this Saturday. See you there!

There’s so much more to Moffat than toffee…

By lisawato / October 5, 2015 / Comments Off on There’s so much more to Moffat than toffee…

At the end of last week I received these fabulous new photos taken by Duncan Ireland from the Make the Most of & Rosset Bespoke Butlers Moffat photoshoot at Dumcrieff House from a couple of weeks ago. The sun shone and we all had a really great day using the beautiful setting to show off the Best of British products that can be found at Make the Most of from wedding cars,to tea, to quilts&more! Incidentally, Duncrieff House was built by Catherine the Great’s doctor (who was from the area) and the design is based on the house he had lived in in St Petersburg.

Here at quilt Towers my new Harris Tweed cushions (with or without a piped edge) are now on sale in my shop, my quilts are in this month’s The World of Interiors magazine (p191), I cannot wait to receive my new tumbling block blanket from Leicester, the home of British knitting, and this weekend I’m teaching patchwork and quilting at Blackwell House. Enjoy your week. Lx

Cute Compton Marbling

By lisawato / September 21, 2015 / Comments Off on Cute Compton Marbling

I was in Tisbury in Wiltshire last weekend at the Compton Marbling Autumn Fair. I overused the C-word (Cute, not Christmas, or any other C-word!) rather excessively throughout, but you will agree if you know the area & from the pics it is all rather sweet

As always I made some new friends and learnt amongst other things that Mokadore is the olde English name for a handkerchief. Cute!

Later in the week I’m off to the borders for a photoshoot at Drumcrieff House. More to follow shortly…Enjoy your week x

#WOW

By lisawato / September 11, 2015 / Comments Off on #WOW

#WOW I was thrilled to be chosen as one of this week’s winners by Jacqueline Gold who is chief executive of Ann Summers and Knickerbox and is renowned for managing a company run by women, for women. Thank you Jacqueline.

I am pleased to have my quilts& endorsed by such a dynamic businesswoman and to receive such positive feedback from my customers. Here’s What my customers say!

From Suzanne – My lovely fella brought me a summer quilt for my birthday (he had heard me mention how lovely they looked). The quality is just superb and an excellent weight, looks perfect on the bed and feels great at night over the duvet. The craftsmanship and love that go into making the quilts is just wonderful, will treasure the quilt forever. (The lovely drawstring cotton bag it arrives in is a beautiful touch too).

From Dai-An Craig After a summer holiday in Harris and Lewis, I was inspired to buy a Harris Tweed throw for my bed. I was looking for something that was functional with excellent quality, but also a little quirky and with a ‘designer edge’. Lisa’s quilts ticked all the boxes.
I bought Lisa’s ‘sunshine yellow velvet and subtle blues, browns and greys Harris Tweed, quilt. Just love the fabrics, colour combinations and the workmanship is superb. Don’t normally treat myself to such an opulent gift, but it is worth every penny for the comfort, style and craftsmanship. This as a quilt that will be well used, cherished and passed on through the family.
The customer experience was great. Excellent website, easy online purchase, fast delivery and the quilt came packed in a handmade cover with drawstring – which is a nice touch.

Until next time x

We are officially in autumn now…Right?

By lisawato / September 4, 2015 / Comments Off on We are officially in autumn now…Right?

We are officially in autumn now that October is here…Right? Personally I love the leaves turning, the brisk mornings and warm sunny days at this time of year. Of course, this is an ideal version of the marvelously problematic British weather which like many Mancunians I can be ever so slightly obsessive about (the weather&Manchester!). However, quilts come into their own in autumn and as well as brightening up a room with a colour pop of colour on the back of the sofa, or as a eye catching runner at the end of a bed, now you can start using them too!

My 100% Made in Britain quilts are stitched to last with iconic Harris Tweed and sumptuous velvet, trimmed in quintessential British prints. My quilts are heirlooms to pass on and as they are stitched in limited numbers they are also truly unique. Click to see my full quilts(cushions&more!) collection

With cosy – hygge autumnal days cuddling up in a quilt in mind, I am taking my quilts (cushions&more!) to several fairs in the forthcoming months. Check out my What’s On at Quilt Towers page for more details.
