A Celebratory Wedding Quilt For Jen and Tim
Jen asked me to use beautiful silk napkins and a table runner hand dyed by textile artist Sian Lancaster which were used on her wedding day, as the focus and starting point for her patchwork quilt. Following a design consultation we decided on some complimentary soft pink linen from Merchant&Mills to edge the silk, with a cream brushed cotton used as the backing fabric.
A Wedding Quilt For Jo's Brother & His Intended
Jo had hand embroidered sashiko squares during lockdown and asked me to stitch them into a quilt. I found some complimentary Japanese fabric from Merchant&Mills and Jo tied dyed some sheeting fabric to use as well for the borders for this thoroughly unique Japanese inspired wedding quilt.
A Wedding Quilt Made From Claire's Mothers Wedding Dress
Claire asked me to use her mother's wedding dress, as well as her own, plus some precious vintage linens in a truly unique patchwork quilt. I was pleased to be also able to use the bodice of Claire's wedding dress to stitch an accompanying cushion.
I've just returned from a few days away to the most wonderful quilt, I’m absolutely thrilled with it & how you have done the cushion to show all the lovely parts of my dress. I cannot thank you enough.
An Anniversary Gift From Chris To His Wife
A surprise wedding anniversary gift from Chris to his wife. A Harris Tweed and wedding dress quilt commission with colours inspired by Van Gogh's Still Life: Vase with Pink Roses as this was the colour theme for their wedding. A Harris Tweed patchwork top and a super soft brushed cotton backing, including snippets of the wedding dress; the lace from the bodice; satin from the skirt and the covered buttons repurposed to quilt this unique personalised quilt. Finally, hand embroidered abridged poems were added as spoken at their wedding. I think the Harris Tweed and lace combo looks fabulous x
A Wedding Quilt For Rose & Max
A wedding quilt for Rose & Max commissioned by the bride's parents. I worked with the couple on the design and the fabrics to include, with lots of references to their love of travel, plus additional likes such as penguins & surfing. Can you recognize the football team represented?
A Wedding Quilt For Pat's Daughter & Future Son In-law
Pat asked me to stitch a wedding quilt for her daughter & future son in law. The fabrics in this quilt were chosen for significance to the bride&groom. The colour scheme for the quilt tones in with the interiors at to the couple's home. The distinctive triangular patchwork design was chosen as the mother of the bride was given a similar patchwork quilt for her wedding. This is a truly unique personalised wedding quilt commission. When Charlotte & Jarran received their wedding quilt Charlotte kindly added...
Hi Lisa I wanted to contact you regarding the absolutely incredible bespoke quilt you made for mine and Jarran’s wedding present from my parents. We opened it on the morning after the wedding and were unbelievably overwhelmed by such an incredible gift, that was obviously so well thought out and made. We’ve come home this weekend and are currently sat under the quilt! Mum has talked us through the entire process, including the stories behind the patches (some more obvious than others!), as well as the lengthy process you had to go to to source some of the patches! It really is a truly unique quilt that we will cherish for the rest of time, and in the future if we want any other quilts we know who to contact! xx
A Wedding Quilt & Cushions Made From Helene's Wedding Dress
Here is what Helene said after receiving her wedding quilt and cushions...
I was determined to find a use for my wedding dress; I couldn't bear the thought of it living in a cupboard for the rest of my life. Thanks to you it will live on as a reminder of our special day. You truly offer a unique service, and I hope more brides are inspired to do the same. I am delighted with my wedding dress quilt and cushions, thank you so much! The materials you chose really complement the fabric and show off the embroidered beaded flowers. The cushions are beautiful, especially the one showing off the buttons, which was one of my favourite part of the dress. It was a great idea to have them made into cushions. Thank you!!
A Wedding Quilt For Lia & Anthony From Their Friends
Lia and Anthony were married last month. Their chief bridesmaid and the couples best friend Ally wished me to create a truly personalised wedding gift, so armed with a list of references and a colour swatch I stitched them a wedding quilt linking to their histories (lots of Dutch inspired printed images), interests (running & wine glasses) and passions (West Ham United and cats!).
A Wedding Dress Quilt For Karen
Lisa's first commission was to take Karen Halicki's wedding dress and stitch it into a Wedding Dress quilt.
I am absolutely delighted with my beautiful quilt made by Lisa. I was at a loss as to what I should do with my wedding dress and wanted to preserve it in some way. After deciding it should have a new life as a quilt, I contacted Lisa who kindly and patiently explained the process, helping me to decide how it should look. She then spent a lot of time and effort making, what I thought was a rather crazy idea, into a reality. I am really grateful to Lisa for putting up with me but most of all for transforming my poor, neglected dress into a thing of beauty again!!
