OOhhh the excitment, I am collaborating with The Great British Banjo Company (who make a Shackleton banjo) and am stitching some Shackleton Quilts.
You might recall my previous post;

Well, this initial discussion has led to a new Harris Tweed quilt being stitched inspired by Ernest Shackleton the infamous antartic explorer. The aim is to create a hardwearing 100% British fabulously manly quilt, that is made to last which will just grow better with age, as even more of your adventures are interwoven into its fabrics.
The link between Shackleton and banjos is; The great British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton saved his expedition’s banjo from his ship Endurance as she sank into Antarctic ice, saying: “We must have that banjo. It’s vital mental medicine.”
He went on to bring all of his men home in an epic adventure of heroism and extraordinary leadership. In the hundred years since then Shackleton’s leadership, adaptability and strategic thinking have become legendary.
Which is why adventurers of every kind ask themselves, when the going gets tough: “What would Shackleton do?”.
Why make a quilt of course! Following lots of discussion the final fabrics have been chosen and next week we start stitching. Huzzah. Look forward to hard wearing corduroy matched with utilitarian fabrics from totally British Ian Mankin; http://www.ianmankin.co.uk/, coupled with yes it’s my fav; Harris Tweed
